Semi-Retired owner of ‘Taylor Systems and Software Design’. Original background in electronics. Served 7 years with the U.S. Navy (advanced electronics communications and electronics countermeasures during the Vietnam era). After the Navy, I worked with IBM for 10 years in 3 divisions. While at IBM, I switched from computer hardware to computer software. After leaving IBM to start a career in freelance custom software development, BFGoodrich hired me to write a Production Scheduling system and Lab system for a new plastics plant. The resulting projects led to BFGoodrich offering me a position in writing custom software for other locations and joining their Engineering division as a ‘shared resource’ between Engineering, Production Plants and the corporate IT department. The next 15 years I developed software for 16 locations in the United States and Canada (with BFGoodrich, Geon and PolyOne corporations). During this time, I was extensively involved in working with computers, software development, systems analysis and design, networks, database design, web development, operations support, process control, business operations analysis and support. In addition, during my 30-year corporate career, I spent about 12-13 years teaching college courses for Ivy Tech College (at nights) in the areas of computer programming languages, computer applications, computer operating systems and networking.
