After each upgrade the monitoring events seem to get wiped, has anyone else noticed this or is it just me? This seems to have been happening for a long time now, I’ve only just got around to flagging it.
I have not seen that before. I just checked our install before the 5.5.14 to 5.5.15 update and have all of the event from before.
Just supplying some feedback. Hope you figure it out.
Thanks for your reply, I think its probably our setup then, as the full backup of the simple help server hasn’t worked either. I think its possibly to do with the 1000+ toolbox jobs we have. ![]()
I saw that happen when I went to 5.5.14 and I only have a handfull of jobs. And the restore doesn’t work either. So what good it that?
That’s definitely not normal. I have 2 installs of SimpleHelp I manage, and have done multiple back-ups and restores, and not had that happen.
I wonder if it could be a folder rights issue or something similar?
If not, it could be a bug that doesn’t affect everyone, just under certain OS’s/Circumstances.
Would definitely contact support about it, so they are at least aware it can happen.
Hope you can get it sorted. In the meantime, you can always do the restore manually by extracting the backup and placing the files in the appropriate places.
Same for backups. Although convenient, you don’t need to use the built-in backup feature. You can manually copy the existing simplehelp files and store them somewhere else for backup.
Thanks Darrel. I have contacted support and they helped resolve my installation issue however to my knowledge nothing has been done to fix the backup/restore issue. My server is running Win11 so nothing special there from my perspective. I’m glad they have worked for you. However I’m a little gunshy at this point of any new updates.
I also find when I spent a long time creating saved tunnels to machines as soon as I upgrade, that information disappears and I have to re-add them again.
Thats actually interesting, I think the couple other users who posted also said they were using a standard desktop install.
I have only installed on linux server debian CLI only. AWS CLI only. Windows server Core 2016 and windows server desktop 2016, 2022.
Actually, I bet that’s it. Writing to program files requires the UAC to trigger. I bet thats all it is, just a permissions issue.
My alerts and monitors disapears after every update too. I use to stop the server, recover only the alerts database, start the server and then everything works. I have some old alerts databases if somebody of the support team wants to examine it.
