To support our users during the coronavirus pandemic we built and released Remote Work in version 5.2.8 for free with a plan to introduce licensing some time after the pandemic. Some years and a few versions later we are planning on introducing paid licensing for Remote Work in the upcoming version - 5.6.
As we’ve listened to feedback about the product and our original licensing plan we’ve improved Remote Work over the updates since 5.2.8 and we think we have a licensing model that will work well for everyone:
For Business license users remote work will be available for $30 per machine per year. You can contact us to add it to your license any time.
Remote Work won’t be a feature in new Standard licenses but if you’ve been using it with your existing Standard or Classic license then feel free to contact us to add it at the same cost as the Business license.
For Enterprise license users remote work will be unlimited and will have no additional per device cost. To switch to Enterprise you can upgrade your license via the account link on our website.
We think this model will work well for customers using Remote Work on a limited scale and customers that are using it heavily. We hope it will provide an opportunity to offer remote work to your customers and scale up usage without worrying about unpredictable costs.
Yes, if you plan to continue using remote work you’ll want to contact us to have it added to your license or to switch plans (if that works better for you) before 5.6.
Faithful, low maintenance user since 2018. None of the ‘feature’ upgrades that I submitted over the early years ever came to be, so I quit waste time on that. Simplehelp as it stands works for me so I continue to use it.
was taken aback in 2023 when they decided to increase support renewal from $360 to $600 for 5user classic License. the explanation was upcoming feature development on steroids!
I could already see from the current development track that the focus was not on the ‘small shop’ wish list but on some big enterprise that was now having it written for them. So no fixes for clipboard and reconnect issues, no enhancement for quick navigation when doing file transfer, no preconfigured calling card… etc
Sorry to sound so sour, but SimpleHelp is not a small expense for a small shop and now add to that 30x10=300/yr that I will need to pass along to my customers
So I have to second Kevin’s request to give us a break please
else be sure to let us know when 5.6 is released so we don’t miss that moving target and leave our customers with no remote work
