SH v5.5.9 Deployment/Comments

Has anyone already installed 5.5.9? Any comments, issues? I got it on a standard license to test it. I see an update on clients is required (at least on some of them).

So far, so good. Updated around 600 clients, but have 6 or 7 left that are being stubborn - probably will be fine on the next restart. The ‘Check for Updates’ button in the Administration panel is showing an ‘Error communicating with server’ error, but that started doing that early this morning under v.5.5.8 - likely due to this new update being rolled out. Definitely something on SH’s end, and does not affect the local server or clients.

Same problem here and it also causes simple setup to fail

My clients finished updating about 30 minutes after my post, so all good here. I’ve utilized several sessions earlier today after the upgrade (a handful simultaneously) with no issues. Hopefully none going forward.

I updated from 5.5.8 running on a Digital Ocean droplet. The clients all updated without issue. It went better than the 5.5.8 update.

Every time I update now my 4k monitor has problems with SimpleHelp.

[EDIT] - To fix display issue on 4k screen after update:

1.Right click and choose Properties on the shortcut in:
\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\SimpleHelp Technician
2. Click Compatibility Tab
3. Click Change High DPI Settings button at bottom of form
4. Click checkbox for "High DPI scaling override
5. Choose “System Enhanced” from the drop down under checkbox
6. Click OK and should display correctly

looks like 5.5.9 has been removed?

From downloads page it is still downloading 5.5.8. But if you run the script for upgrade (at least on linux) it does install the 5.5.9.

since 5.5.8 I obviously update asap as soon as there’s a new notification, when I went to download the executable it still said that the latest version was 5.5.8 but the executable was for 5.5.9. If you need to remote in into a client before it updates it is painful to connect. It just doesn’t work until the client shows updated. I wish the “connecting” page would be a little more informative and tell me what was going on, or if clients are being updated to show what’s the status, I know it’s a big ask and they have other priorities, but it never hurts to ask. Other than whatever has been announced with this release I didn’t notice anything else, either good or bad.

Everything works fine for me but the Linux launchers in Pop!_OS disappear when the client updates. Looks like the files aren’t set as executable so I did the following and everything came back.

sudo chmod +x “/home/rgravel/.JWrapper/JWrapper-SimpleHelp Technician/SimpleHelp TechnicianLinLauncher64”

sudo chmod +x /opt/JWrapper-Remote Access/Remote AccessLinLauncher64

Made me redo the 2FA on first login.

Terminals will not load for me for macos or linux in 5.5.9. So ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I’m also having issues loading the bash console.

Sounds like 5.9.10 will drop tomorrow with a fix. So SH is aware of the issue.

I find everything is now super slow. So frustrating, I think I may end up ditching this product and roll my own Rust desk server instead. Paying for this isn’t worth it when they keep messing up things in every update.

Ever since I upgraded to 5.5.9 am having issues loading a working bash or any Linux console in all agents.
